On the eve of the presidential election, American society needs unity and understanding particularly. The United States is our common home, which we must take care of together, develop, and protect from external enemies.
The Council of Ukrainian Christian Churches of Washington State proclaims October 16, 2024, as the Day of Fasting and Prayer for the United States. On this day, all of our fellow citizens can unite in prayer before Almighty God for a good destiny for our country – each according to their faith and tradition.
We call on all believers, regardless of denomination or nationality, to pray for
unity among our people and prosperity for the United States,
mutual respect and public tranquillity during the upcoming presidential election,
wisdom for the U.S. leadership to promote global peace and help Ukraine win the unjust war waged by Russia.
We believe that the United States has a God-given mission to care for the world order, to cherish human rights and religious liberty, and to be indifferent when genocide is committed in the world and international law is destroyed. Therefore, on this Day of Fasting and Prayer, our churches will offer prayers with special gratitude for the American people, so that their assistance to the suffering people of Ukraine may be strengthened until the complete victory over the evil and lawlessness committed by Russia.
Ukraine cannot stop its resistance and surrender, for otherwise, it will be annihilated. The existential threat motivates Ukrainians to keep fighting, despite Russia's daily air attacks with ballistic missiles and exploding drones that destroy peaceful cities and civilian infrastructure. With hope for the ultimate triumph of good over evil, we also call upon our brothers and sisters in Ukraine, regardless of their faith, to raise their voices in prayer for the United States, a staunch ally of Ukraine and a defender of democracy in the world.
May God Bless the United States! May God grant victory and peace to Ukraine!
